All,
I'm looking to simply replace the handle of a couple Moen push/pull tub/shower faucets. The current handles are plastic and are loose from the plastic being eaten up by the metal on the valve body. However, after removing the handle what I see doesn't seem to match any posting on Moen tub faucets. There is a metal collar in front of the extension tube with 2 teeth on it that are what the old knob caught to turn the valve. I'm not sure if it is a Moen piece, some kind of after-market will-fit, or what - but I'm not sure how to remove it. The Moen replacement knob I have won't fit with the collar there. Any ideas? Thanks for any information you can provide.

It's just a handle adapter that was part of the old handle. It will pull out so the new handle will fit. It is probably stuck in there from mineral deposits.

Thank you so much. Just didn't have the courage to give it a little more elbow grease, but that was all it took.
