Trying to remove a Moen Monticello Tub Spout with diverter. I cannot see a set screw - but I do see a white plastic ring with projecting tabs and a grey metal piece surrounding that. Both of those pieces rotate if I turn the spout. What is the best way to remove the spout without damaging the copper pipe ? I do have an angle grinder.

Sometimes the innards get turned inside. Also, some spouts are installed with a threaded nipple.
If it's copper pipe you're working with, then may twist until the allen comes around to the opening.
If it's a nipple from the wall, that gets spun off.
