Please see the photos.

So my basement does not have any access to drain pipe. I had to bring the discharge to 1st floor bathroom as you see on the photo.

I know the current connection is very wrong. So I was doing more research and tried to figure out what would be the right solution. I came across on 'funnel drain'. So if you see the photo with 'solution?' written on, this was my idea to fix the current issue. Providing air gap (1" gap) and prevent the sink sewage to backflow to the softener.

Anyway, I was not sure if my idea is even right... Does this look right? or is there a right solution for my situation?

While the funnel idea might work, I'm uncertain how you would prevent splashing or how you would ensure the line from the softener is held securely above the rim of the funnel.

A simpler method maybe a dishwasher air gap mounted through the counter beside the sink. The link below shows one of many available.

The softener drain line will connect to the smaller line entering the bottom of the air gap device, and the larger line from the air gap will connect to the Tee below the sink's drain tailpiece where the PEX line is connected currently.
