Did I just buy an old Toto Drake?

After doing all my research (this is a great site!), I just bought a Toto Drake (CST744S) locally. I unpacked it and looked at the instructions, then went to download the instructions because I inevitably lose paper instructions. To my surprise, I found a much newer set of instructions at totousa.com, dated 4/08 -- the ones in the box were dated 6/05.

When I read through the newer instructions, I found that the tank mounting instructions are different in the way you install the mounting bolts and the newer instruction make a point about the tank making "three points of contact" with the base. The newer diagram shows three tabs on the base where the contact should be, tabs that my base does not have. See page 2 of: http://admin.totousa.com/Product Downloads/0GU008Z-5, 1.6 GPF TOILETS, IM, V.01.pdf

So, the questions are:
-Did I buy a Drake that's been sitting in a warehouse for a few years?
-If they changed the tank mounting, did they change anything else that would actually make it worthwhile to find a more-recently manufactured unit?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Sheesh they musta had that one collecting dust somewhere and didn't rotate stock...

Does your fill valve look like this... Image #1

or this Image #2

The flapper is red (your image #2) but the fill valve matches your image #1 -- see my photo.

By the way, the tank box says it's a ST743S#12 and the bowl box says it's a C744E#12. The seller said that these were the compatible components, and Toto USA told me the same thing when I called them to verify that.

Thanks for the help.

Dumb question:

I had a woman with 2 Toto Carlyles that are 5 or 6 years old get her fill valves replaced by Toto with the older "non top adjustable" style valves. It is to my knowledge that these are not adjusted while installed but pre-adjusted to the proper height. The problem is her plumber or Toto for that matter didnt adjust them correctly and her tank is really under filling.

So my questions is, can she order up a new G-Max fill valve (TSU18A) to replace the old one, that way it can be adjusted on the tank to the proper height? Or are they incompatible with each other?

I like the old style fill valve better...
Wish they didn't change it...

Well if its any consolation in that dusty box you got the better fill valve!:D

Well, dusty or not, I guess I don't see any reason to scream and holler about getting an old toilet. As soon as we finish painting the bathroom, I'll plop this spiffy "new" toilet into place.

Thanks to both you and Terry for your thoughtful and prompt replies, and even more thanks to Terry for hosting this terrific site. I learned a whole lot more in the time I spent here than I did in all the time I spent cruising the rest of the web. Just wish I could have bought the toilet from you -- but Washington is a bit of a drive from New Hampshire.
