Hi All,
Just had an inspector on-site for my in/under-slab DWV. He raised one issue that kinda throws cold water on some of what I think I've learned here. He said that my use of a wye rather than a sanitary tee for the toilet vent (see pic) wasn't ideal since it located the vent further below the toilet trap. I chose the wye to avoid any horizontal venting way down there in the slab. BTW, top of slab is the top of the 2x12 on the left.

It's a little academic since he passed my setup, but can anyone comment/clarify?

Thanks!!

My preference would have been to install a vertical stack for the drain and vent and arm the toilet in with a standard closet bend and sanitary tee.

Normally, he would be correct, however, toilets are a special breed, in that they ARE "S" traps and therefore the lower the vent connection the BETTER they flush.

I have plumbed many that way in the Seattle area. It always passes inspection. hj is right, the toilet is treated differently than the other fixtures because they are supposed to siphon. Unlike the other traps in the home that should not siphon.
It looks good. :)

Thanks for the clarifications you all! What I've most learned from this project is that plumbing toilets and floor drains gives me headaches... next house I'm just going to put a permanent HoneyBucket on the sidewalk :)

Thanks Cacher-Chick, that would be cleaner for sure but I didn't mention a (self-imposed?) constraint: I was trying to keep as much of the DWV out of the footer as possible. With the setup in my pic only the vent passes through the 12" wide footer, the toilet drain itself only passes through the 4" slab.
