I have been lurking for a while and scouring the Interweb for an answer to what I think is an interesting question.
(don't laugh at my drawing, we all need a way to think about problems)
I am doing some work in the master bath located on the first floor of our house (Ranch with unfinished basement) and am moving the location of the shower about 3 feet. It is a linear move so the shower drain will still be between the same two floor joists. Once I got started and looked at where the new shower drain would be located I discovered our forced hot air duct work is 8 inches below the drain (joist are 2x8). My question is can I put a 90 degree elbow, a section of 18 long 2 inch Sched 40 pipe, then a P-Trap, then continue to, and connect to the existing drain piping. I thought about trying to squeeze a P-Trap in above the duct but thought that would be really tight and most difficult.
