What type of faucet is in the picture below?

I rent from a super old place in San Francisco, and recently been having trouble with the water diverter on my tub, where some of the water won't go to the shower head and instead leak from the bottom faucet

Our landlord sent out a plumber the other day and didn't change the faucet but added something to the inside to help seal the diverter, and it seals better but still leaks.

I'm considering just replacing the whole faucet myself, am still trying to identify the faucet that is currently installed.

As far as working with stuff, I haven't worked with plumbing before, my experience is in motorcycle mechanics

1. Call the landlord again. Don't do things you're not supposed to do.
2. This ain't a motorcycle.

You look to have no access to the back of that faucet. I'm thinking the entire building would need to be shut down during a replacement. As a plumber, that looks very scary. I would not touch that unless I had full access to the back, all the parts on hand, and permission from everybody in the builder for at least a four hour shutdown.

If that is connected to galvanized piping, just touching it could lead to bigger problems. Where steel touches brass fixtures, the metal starts to rot away.
