Hello, I'm 23 and I'm a very new homeowner and honestly don't know very much on that regard, especially with plumbing, I recently moved into a trailer home with a shallow well, in which a Burcam jet pump is being used as the actual well pump for our well, so there's no pressure tank or pressure switch. The exact model is 506532SS dual application pump. Anyways I've been having a rough time with the well since I've been moved in, at first, if there was no water actively running, like faucets running or toilets filling, the jet pump would build pressure up to 60psi then pop the gfci outlet that's inside the well near the pump, from time to time instead of tripping the outlet the actual pump would trip itself and cause the FAILURE led light to glow red, and id have to reset the GFCI a couple times to be able to get it run again. I had that problem but found a work around that if I left a couple faucets running a small stream, it would keep the pressure just under 60psi so it wouldn't trip, yes I know its not exactly ideal to have the pump running 24/7 but I honestly wasn't even sure what else to do at the time. Now I have a different problem, once I turn the pump on, it will build to around 20psi and just not go higher than that, it will run but the pressure will not continue to build. That's if I'm lucky enough to have the pump actual start instead of just tripping as usual. I had a leak under the house in pex and a leak in the pipe in the well connected to the pump running to the house, and I replaced both of those so no leaks in those, I have replaced the gfci outlet in the well thinking that would make it stop tripping which it did not, and I just recently replaced the capacitor in the jet pump, and that too didn't help. Now honestly I'm not sure there's more I can personally do but after doing a little research my very uneducated guess would be a bad foot valve or check valve? Or build up around those areas? I don't really know much but I've been trying to find similar forums but there just seems to be so many possibilities.

Thank you in advance for any help!

1. This may be a clogged jet in the jet pump.

2.

I have not read up on your pump. https://www.waterpumpsdirect.com/Burcam-506532SS-Water-Pump/p7177.html I don't know where the access is to run a wire thru the venturi/jet.

Yeah, most likely the pump ran at too low or no flow and melted the impeller. That is what those flow switch type controllers that must flow water in the up direction to function are designed to do. You didn't think a controller SUPPLIED with and by the pump manufacturer would make a pump last a long time did you? That would be counter to selling more and more pumps. Lol! If you want a pump controller that will make a pump last your lifetime and never give any problems, you are going to have to get it and advice from someone besides the pump manufacturers. Pump manufacturers are not your friends. They will lie to you. There glossy adds will lie to you. Anything to sell more pumps unfortunately.

A good shallow well jet pump with a decent size pressure tank can last many years. Adding a Cycle Stop Valve can extend the life and eliminate problems for decades. Most people forget they even have a pump as water just keeps coming out of the taps when they open them, which is what a pump system is supposed to do.
