I removed my American Standard Champ toilet as I noticed discoloration of the grout next to the toilet. I wanted to make sure it wasn't leaking. I didn't find any leaks but I did notice that most of the wax squished out when I tightened the toilet down when I last installed it. Do the following photos suggest that I did not install the toilet correctly? I measured the depth of the toilet flange clearance and I have about 1/2 an inch. The ABS toilet flange rests on the finished tile floor and is about 3/8 inch thick. There is not much clearance there. What should I be checking for?

For it being that tight, I would use a standard wax without the horn.
Remove the horn you have there first. It's still going to squish out though. Sometimes you can slice some off.
