We thought our existing landscape drain was 3-inch hard wall sched 40 pvc and got the sched 40 hardwall pvc pipes and fitting but then realized the existing lines are COEX. We're adding a yard drain upslope of the existing COEX and want to tap into it. Please explain the differences or point me to an existing forum explaining DWV PVC vs Coex Cell Core vs ABS. I'm familiar with Sched 40 and 80 PVC and ABS DWV pipe but not Coex Cell Core. We want to extend current COEX Cell Core 3 inch stormwater runoff drain lines but are not familiar with Cell Core. Can we use the 3 inch sched 40 PVC hardwall pipe and fittings to connect to the existing COEX and is there a special connector or glue for this? Or should we just get some COEX pipe? I usually just match like with like when doing repairs but in this case, I'd prefer to use hard wall pvc if possible.
We're in a 1970's house and usually just match like with like when doing minor repairs and have a plumber handle major repairs. This is the type of job that no one really wants the plumber referred to landscape guy and landscape guys said if we do it we'd have to charge too much so call a handyman which translated to me doing it myself.
