why does it look like tub drain ells are exactly 90° so have no slope? a small amount of water is visible in mine (new install). when I adjusted the drain/vent assembly so it would drain completely then the flange would not sit flat against the bottom of the tub. I'm then afraid with standing water (albeita a small amount) the coupling (where drain ell connects to tee) will leak.

wishing I had used a glue-together kit instead

A little water there won't hurt. The shoe to the tub must be square to the tub though or that will leak. I think you need to take a warm soaking bath to relax after working so hard.
