Seemed simple enough - take off face plate, remove screw, remove knob, ... BUT the screw head had disintegrated leaving nothing to grip to remove the screw.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to now remove the threads? All that remains is a "flatish" surface with no depth where the threads start. See pictures.

Calling a plumber for this makes no sense.

Any timely help is appreciated. We are having an open house for selling in 2 days.

Drill the head off, remove the handle, and then the screw using pliers. But,logically, once you get the handle off just discard the cartridge and replace it.
