I currently have a shallow well jet pump and I am wanting to switch to a submersible pump.

I don’t have a well but since I live on a hill we have a 600 gallon water storage tank. We get enough pressure from the water company to fill this tank which is buried in the ground with a float valve. The water from that tank comes into our basement and into our jet pump.

I also have a 1065 gallon water tank in the basement not being used. Here is my idea, I let the buried tank that is supplied by county water gravity feed the tank inside the basement. The tank inside the basement would get a float valve.

Then, I use a submersible pump in the tank that is inside the basement that is plumbed into CSV kit that then goes on to supply house water.

Would this work well?

I have been researching this and I saw an older post where @Valveman recommended to someone in a similar situation a PK1A, 10 gallon pressure tank, 50-70 pressure switch, and Hallmark 1 HP pump.

I guess I am wondering if this would be the recommendation or something else? This is a 2 story home on top of basement as well.

Yes the PK1A and a submersible will work very well. At 50/70 don't really need any larger than the 4.5 gallon size tank.

I was thinking it would be nice to use the smaller tank but came across your post in this thread and it made me wonder.

“I would also use a 10 gallon size tank with the PK1A kit, because with a two story house I recommend 50/70 pressure switch setting which needs a slightly larger pressure tank. The 1HP Hallmark can make like 89 PSI, so it will easily do 50/70.”

Truthfully, we just can't get anymore 10 gallon tanks until January.
