In the Spring and Summer we get around to replacing hosebibs that have split and frozen over the Winter. Sometimes they are just old and worn out. Because a frost free hosebib tends to be 6" or 8" long, that means opening up a wall inside the home for replacement. I measure first to make sure that the opening we make in the wall is on the mark. We can then use a repair panel to cover the hole, and make it easy for the next time we're out to replace it.
The wall has been cut and the new faucet installed.
The wood block was split before we got there.
And the panel that covers the hole inside.
Here is one in a 60's home.
And the access panel in place.
