Recently moved into a home (4 Bed/3 bath, 2 adults) where the previous water softener was removed before we bought the house. We see the softener plumbing bypassed. We have 1” water service. Water quality report is hard for us to decipher.
Water test indicated hardness of 22-25.
One of the systems proposed is
Vesta Dual Chamber Dual Media model BT1640R-G474
Not sure the brand of control valve used. We’re told it doesn’t use a lot of salt.
Is this a suitable option? This system is apparently sold only through local resellers.
Expert advice is appreciated.

With about 25 grain hardness, I would go with a softener with 1.5 or 2 cuft of resin.

You could precede that with a catalytic carbon tank, and that would remove stuff including the chloromines.

If you do not remove the chloramines, it would be important to get 10% crosslinked resin.

If your softener and carbon tank uses Fleck or Clack valves, they will not be so proprietary, and you can get service from people that you did not necessarily buy from. Or do it yourself. W
