Hello,

I need some advice. I am having a problem with 2 toilets taking 2 or 3 attempts to flush before they flush the entire contents of the bowl and one that does not flush at all. I have a septic tank and my worst fear is that the tank is full. I have checked and adjusted the float in each toilet so there is enough water in the bowl, I adjusted the chain on the plungers as well. Since all 3 are having some kind of trouble my fear is the septic tank is full. Any ideas?

We could use a bit more information. Have you check the septic tank? What kind of toilets do you have? (No, all toilets are not created equal) Have they always been a problem? Give us something to go on and maybe we can offer some suggestions.

A septic tank is 'normally' full (of liquids, anyway). If it fills up with solids, then you have a problem. But, if the leach field is plugged, pumping the tank won't help, as then it's time to rebuild the system and that can get costly.

If other things drain properly (showers, washing machine, etc.), then it is unlikely to be the septic system. Builder quality toilets are not known to be very good. It may just be those toilets are dogs, and you need to bite the bullet and replace them with something that actually works. You could also have a problem with the slope of the drain lines...they must slope continuously without level sections or bellies, where they go down then back up again.
