Hello, I can't get a hold of my plumber and the tile guys are showing up tomorrow, so do any of you experts know by looking, or know how I can tell which of the two valves this is? I've done an extensive online search and both have versions that look like this one. The valve stem can be turned 360 degrees repeatedly, and I can't seem to be able to easily pull or push it with a pliers. Thanks in advance.

That's a Moen Posi-Temp.
When installing the trim, the notch on the stem goes down. Assuming you plumbed hot to the left side of the valve.

The wire clip holds the cartridge in place. That has to be removed before the cartridge will pull out.

Thanks Terry. I had seen the images you posted images and feared that. Out it must come , in with the Moentrol then. I will have to stop the tilers tomorrow until I can get that done. Thanks for the quick reply.
