Please help me verify the master programming settings for Fleck 5810 SXT with 2.0 Cu Ft of 10% C-L Resin. Thread on water data is located @ https://terrylove.com/forums/index....-my-first-water-softener-and-ro-system.72222/

In summary: 6 People @ 65 gallons per day with 9 grains

My Fleck 5810SXT Settings for 8 lbs of Salt / Cu Ft are:
DF = Gal
VT = 5810
RF = dF2b
CT = Fd
C = 48.0
H = 9 (Actual Hardness 7)
RS = rc
RC = 200
DO = 28
RT = 2:00
B1 = 7
Bd = 60
B2 = 3
RR = 5
BF = 22
FM = t1.2
RE = OFF
VR = OFF

If, I was to use 6 lbs of Salt / Cu Ft setting, only the following two parameters will change,is this correct?
C=40
BF=16

Would you Gurus change any of these settings? My software version is 3.0, and I do not get Day of the Week Settings (D1) or Current Day (CD). BLFC is 0.25 GPM and for DLFC and Injector, a black marker is used to hide the numbers.

Thanks for all the input.

This is for the automatic reserve capacity option:
System info (not programmed)
salt lb/cuft : 8 ; A choice ( efficiency vs capacity)
BLFC : 0.25 ; Brine Refill rate GPM
cubic ft resin : 2.0 ; Same as (nominal grains/32,000)
Raw hardness : 9.0 ; including iron etc
Estimated gal/day
390.0 ; 60 gal per person typical calc
Est days/regen
13.7 ; presuming days each use 390 gallons
Fleck 5810SXT Settings:
DF = Gal ; Units
VT = 5810 ; Valve type
RF = dF2b ; Downflow, Double Backwash
CT = Fd ; Meter Delayed regen trigger
C = 48.0 ; capacity in 1000 grains
H = 9 ; Hardness grains after comp factor
RS = cr ; Cr = base reserve on recent experience
DO = 28 ; Day Override (typ 28 if no iron/Mn)
RT = 2:00 ; Regen time (default 2 AM)
B1 = 5 ; Backwash 1 (minutes) [3...10]
Bd = 60 ; Brine draw minutes
B2 = 4 ; Backwash 2 (minutes)[3...10]
RR = 10 ; Rapid Rinse minutes
BF = 21 ; Brine fill minutes
FM = t1.2 (usual) ; t1.2 is default flow meter
RE = OFF ; Relay
VR = OFF ; ?

But I have 2.0 Cu FT of Resin. Any changes based on this? Thanks
I edited #2.

For different salt levels,
lb/cuft ; C= ; BF=
5 ; 36.4 ; 13
6 ; 40.0 ; 16
7
; 44.1 ; 19
8
; 48.0 ; 21
9 ; 51.3 ; 24

Is there a formula to calculate the capacity "C" based on salt dosage and brine fill ?

Here is a decent article that touches on your question fairly well. Since articles have to be limited it does not really go through the negatives of some designs, rather it strictly focuses on water and salt efficiency. It ignores that with higher efficiencies comes complex and typically more troublesome designs.

Here is a table I made. Note that for 2 cuft and 0.25 BLFC, the salt per cubic ft is not round numbers for many of the BF minutes. This table goes against the principles of simplicity. Most people should avoid this level of complexity.

I will say that the calculated BF for 8 pounds per cubic ft was 21.3333333333, and 21 was a rounded value. The table below computes C from BF, and rounds C to one decimal, which the softener can do. Using 21 minutes and 48.0 is close enough, but 21 minutes and 47.5 is a tad better I think.

BLFC = 0.25
cubic ft resin = 2
Experimental table for different BF values. It may be incorrect, so do a sanity check before using the numbers. BF has 1 minute granularity. I made the C column bold. Don't take other inference for the bolding.
lb/cuft ; C= ; BF= ; grains/pound of salt
