That is the question , I am trying to decide between a few valves and It is obvious to me from this post: https://terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/max-flow-shower-valve.108019/

That valves are restricted.

I have a different post on delta, and this one is Moen. Can I drill these ports? Red arrow, make that bigger, and blue arrow cut that hole larger? I want more water to the bath tub. I get taht 2.5 gpm is the max I am going to get at the shower head.

The tub should get 5 or more gpm. How big is this tub?

You could try it, but the cartridge is only gonna let (whatever those passages sizes are) a certain amount of water through them. Look at the cartridge those holes are much smaller than the valve itself.

Thanks, I would try to cut into the plastic where the blue arrows are and allow more water to pass throug.

My tub is a deep tub, 16 inches to the overflow. So I need a valve that will put out as much water as possible.

Modifying a valve or cartridge is asking for nothing but problems.

I just want the max amount of water I can get in my tub. I can install it and run it before closing up the walls.
