Hello,

This forum has been very helpful. I'm just wondering, after I turn the water off, do I just try to pull out the cartridge with pliers? I've seen some different approaches on YouTube for removing a cartridge, so I thought I'd ask. See here what I have. https://www.screencast.com/t/rMZfeWsVgr

Thanks a lot

This is a moen valve body but I've not seen this type. The clip does need to be removed before the cartridge will come out and I'm sure the collar also has to come out. It can be a bear pulling it out and sometimes you need the tool.

If you look at the replacement cartridge you should see a white nylon part. You need to grab that to make it come out. Usually just pulling on it won't do and you have to turn left and right slightly each time. The part you grab sits in a wedge to as you twist it each way it slowly pulls itself out.

You may have a Phister Avante valve there. Normally there is a threaded nut holding that in
How about a picture of the trim you removed.

Your photos do not show us what we really need to see, but just enough to show that it is an Avante valve. Remove the nut and FORCEFULLY pull the cartridge. There should not be a "clip" so I do not know what you are showing that would look like one
