After replacing the flush and fill valve in my 60's norwall with a new fluidmaster kit, i've come to the conclusion that I want my original equipment back in the tank. The problem is that I don't remember how it was installed, or if I have all the parts, or if it's a bad idea all together. Can anyone help me identify what i'm missing here? The flush lever and brass rod is still installed, but this is all I can find from the old setup.

It looks like an old champion style float I guess. AS recommends replacing with 47088-0700.

Done.

The new floats are likely less hassle to deal with and less likely to stick open.
