Hi. I am replacing an old toilet for a bathroom remodel because of stains in the bowl. Here are the things that are important to me:
1. Watersense
2. Elongated
3. Tall chair height
4. Under $200 including seat
Like most people researching toilets for the first time I went straight to Consumer Reports first. Based on the many threads on this TerryLove site I think I get that people are not satisfied with CR and their top ranking of the American Standard Champion 4 Max. I also see that most people on this site recommend anything Toto. Even the least expensive Toto, however, is out of my price range especially given the fact that they don't seem to include seats.
So, unless someone has a line on a place to get a Toto at a much lower price they are out for me. That said, unless Consumer Reports is just in the back pocket of American Standard I would be hard-pressed to not buy the Champion 4 Max based on their ranking.
So, if people are against the AS Champion 4 Max, can you give me a few other sub-$200 models that you feel are better and why? Again, being just a regular consumer it is hard to pass up "Excellent" in both the solid waste removal and bowl cleaning categories.
Thank you for your help!
