Would you install glass panels over drywall to accommodate a free stand shower in a tub?

Basically trying to avoid ripping out walls for wall mount valves or installing tile which requires new board...

It's not really clear to me what you are working with. If it already exists, and you want to update it to a tub/shower, how about a picture of what's there?
