Hi.

I bought an older house built in the early 1970's. From the well to the house they ran 1" abs waterline pipe which they don't make anymore. My question is how can I repair a small cut section of the abs waterline pipe so I don't have to replace the whole 400 feet of waterline pipe. Any suggestions? I was considering a 1 inch pvc transition or pex with some kind of mechanical adapter? Thanks for any recommendations.

Yes it's definitely 1" abs.
I presume, fortunately, it is not.

But if you were to show a marking on the pipe to the contrary, I would look to replace the pipe with polyethylene.

But is it SIDR? 1 inch SIDR would be ID 1.049". Your picture looks like it is a little less ID.

There is also IPS, CTS pipe.
https://www.jmeagle.com/sites/default/files/JM Eagle_HDPE_WaterService_IPS_CTS_SIDR.pdf has a typo for the ID of 1 i

https://www.jmeagle.com/sites/default/files/jme_PEWaterandSewer.pdf has a lot of thickness of IPS pipe.

If you can get a 1 inch barbed fitting into that, things would be a lot easier than hunting down the connector for one of the others.
