Do you have an old Moen valve from the 70's or 80's? I love updating those old valves in the Seattle area. Replacing the cartridge makes them a new faucet, smooth and quiet.

Turn this into this!

Moen TL473 trim fits the old Moen roughs. The T473 has the crystal knob, the TL473 is the lever.
Or for just the handle and plate, T470 crystal knob and TL470 with lever.

Theses came with the 1200 cartridge, and will accept both the 1200 and the 1225.

Replace the cartridge while you are at it.

New cartridge in, face plate on............

On the old handle how do I remove it? Does the front plate come off or something? I got one like in the first photo. :(

With a new 1225 cartridge.

Home built in 1977.
I installed hundreds of these valves in the 70's.

Hi, I would like to convert from the old Chateau (your first picture is exactly what I have) to the TL473. I have the 1200 cartridge and just replaced it. Does the TL473 only work with the 1225 cartridge?

Also, I do notice that there are 2 pictures that have some black plastic pieces (pictures 7 & 8). Do I have to purchase those pieces in order to use the TL473? Is so, can you list those part numbers please?

Final question :) ... can I also update the handle on the matching Chateau sink faucet or is it not worth it and I should just get a new Moen matching sink faucet?

Thank you.

your valve takes a 1200 or 1225 cartridge your choice brass or plastic. I think that modern style trim was desighned for a newer valve though its possible and looks like Terry shows using that trim so I guess so

We have a similar moen but it has the non-diverter spout and the little diverter button left and below the mysterious crystal knob.

Is there a plan for this kind of lever update for what we have? We'd like to update the spout too, but ine thing at a time.

I am having an issue with my replacement. I ended up getting the tl471 trim kit which is great, but I it didn’t have the stop tube and I don’t have one that I can find that fits this 1200 cartridge. Moen tells me it’s the 10089 stop tube but that is too big for the cartridge and trim kit. Any help would be great.
