Hi,
New here, and looking for some advice. I bought a piece of property that had an existing 4" well that was put down in 1992. There was a fire and the house burned down at lease ten years ago. The well has sat for that long as far as I could tell, although the seller I bought it from may have been irrigating his garden with it, as there is 1.5" black poly pipe with a coupling coming out of the well shaft, and the blue poly line had been cut and left.
I wired up a breaker box and 4 prong 240v plug that I can run off a generator. I am only going to use this to fill my camper, and a rain barrel for added water. I am not using a bladder tank or pressure switch. When I tested the wiring the other day, it started pumping water right away, but only for about three minutes. The generator noticeably dipped and it slowed flow, then stopped pumping. I shut everything down, waited about 5 minutes and fired it up again. Started pumping right away.
Today I installed a yard hydrant off that coupling with 3/4' poly line. It started flowing right away again, but for only a few minutes again. Stop, let sit, and it starts pumping right away again.
Is there just not enough water in the well anymore? It seems like really good water coming out. The old well log from 1992 states it is 110' with static water at 7' below the surface. 50' below surface after one hour pumping 30gpm.
This lot is on a small spring fed lake, and we have had a ton of rain this year. I find it so hard to believe that the water table has dropped that much.
