Sink drain leak

I just installed a bath faucet that has a rod that you pull up and push down to close and open the drain. The "pivot ball" (as they call it in the documentation) leaks like a sieve when I drain a sink full of water. Hopefully, the problem area is clear from the picture.

I've installed several faucets before (although not this brand), and never had any problem. I'm not seeing how to deal with this issue, so any help would be appreciated!

The plastic ball on the horizontal connector rod needs a nylon washer.
Look in the drain set package and see if you can find it, otherwise get a replacement.
Then the nut holding it has to be hand tight plus a 1/4 turn.

Thanks!

Definitely no nylon washer include... Would you happen to know the size?

Every brand of drain is different, and even more within the brand. You need to look up the parts page for that and see the order of assembly.

There is nothing common or interchangeable.

It turns out there was a nylon washer, so now I'm really baffled. Any idea why this might be leaking?
