This is a great site I've learned a lot going through forums and had helpful answers to questions. We're replacing our tub drain strainer/ drain body (the part that threads in) and have a few questions. It's a Moen push-n-lock tub drain kit that connects to 1-1/2 in. threaded drains. Does Moen use coarse or fine threads? If we swap in a Watts, Brasscraft or other we need to know the thread type.

What are the best quality drain parts and metal types? Looking for quality tub drain parts. The drain and our fixtures are oil rubbed bronze that hasn't held up well. Will chrome, stainless, brushed nickel or other material hold up better? We're just replacing the tub drain for now but our ok with it not matching and swapping in matching fixtures in the future.

We ordered the RectorSeal Golden Extractor Tub Drain Tool since the drain crossbars have rotted out. We'll get the 1 1/2 drain either coarse or fine, and plumbers putty. Anything else we need for the job? We can also replace the threaded insert if needed. We have the basic hand tools, plumbers wrenches, socket and wrench sets, etc.
