Pump clicking on & off like every 3 seconds?

HI me again.
Ok, so I hooked everything up. primed the pump 4 times and water started flowing. When i shut off the spicket for the water , the pump shut off a few seconds later.
About 45 second to a minute later with the water off the pump started continuously clicking on and off.
It was getting pretty dark outside by then so i just unplugged it and called it a night. We do not have a pressure tank.
Pump is a 3/4 hp barracuda jet convertible pump. ( I think Superior makes them for Menards)
Any ideas what i should start checking?

Yeah! You need a pressure tank! Your check or foot valve may also not be working as the pump should not come back on until someone uses water. Best to add one of these PK1A kits instead of just a pressure tank. The PK1A works with a 4.5 gallon size tank. Without the CSV1A in the kit you would need a tank many times larger and it still wouldn't work as well as the PK1A kit.
