I will be building a new small, efficient house, with hot water supplied by a Rennai tankless heater. Water from a well, with H2O2 treatment to get rid of H2S. Softening will most likely be required, too.

I'm a Type-L copper guy, but am actually giving consideration to going with a PEX distribution system.

I'm leaning toward Zurn, as I like their modular manifolds (I would add their plastic valves to every manifold output).

Yes, I'm aware of the Zurn lawsuits regarding failed brass fittings in PEX systems, but Zurn has migrated to all plastic fittings now.

Am I crazy to even consider this?

Motivation would be initial cost, plus the efficiency of home-run properly-sized runs which will limit hot water losses to house fixtures.

Or, should I just continue being a Type-L kind of guy?
