I need to change my water heater but can't seem to find a drain valve on it. The hot and cold connections are connected in the front not on the top of the unit. How do I drain it to change it. Its a GSW Series 5 tank? Any help would be appreciated.

You may just have to cut the pipes and drain it into a bucket. I tried to get onto the GSW website, but it appears to be down at the moment. How many gallons is it? Water weighs about 8#/gallon, and the tank itself is probably not much if it's in the space saver series.

Is there a plug in the thing? If so, it will usually have a square stub sticking out you should be able to get a wrench on.

Hey, wait a minute.

This is awkward, but...
