Hi everyone,

I cannot figure out what's wrong with our Moen Faucet. We are not the original owners BTW so no warranty from Moen.

https://solutions.moen.com/MotionSense:Dual_Sensor-Hands_Free_Faucet This faucet with the black control box.

Basically about 1 week ago, woke up and the water pressure was reduced in both hot and cold. I contacted Moen for support. We cleaned (in water) the filters going from hot and cold water into the box. We took apart the wand - tried to clean that. Also took that off and the water flow was still low.

I bought a cartridge from Home Depot but before opening it, Moen said this model has a cartridge you can't (shouldn't?) even replace so it remains unopened.

As of today, we are still getting warm water but I think it's less hot than before.

Most recent suggestion from Moen is a problem in the black control box which controls water into the faucet. They said we could buy a new one ($285 ish) but I'm hesitant if there is no guarantee it will work.

The final weird part. There is a button on the handle which switches from a straight flow to shower head like flow. Now, if we press it down to shower head - it will change, but it will not remain on that setting. Further, when I push up on that button to stop the flow of water entirely - it feels ... physically harder to do so.

Anyone have any other tips before we buy a new faucet?

Thank you!

the moen motion sense is entirely controlled by its control box. hot, cold and volume. thats an expensive purchase. maybe look for a new faucet or explain your the original purchaser but have lost the receipt.;)
Interesting fact: Normally you would replace your leaking moen faucet with a cartridge. but the cartridge on a moen motion sense acts as a calibrated component that tells the control box how much and how hot. no water actually travels through the cartridge.
***Just a good fact to know for those that have not yet worked on one.***
good luck

Thank you for the explanation! That's very helpful and makes sense.

I think we will probably get a new faucet. The installation looks pretty straightforward so fingers crossed.
