    I had a 1255 cartridge to bad.

Pulled off the faucet handle, unscrewed the nut, took the cartridge out, followed by a white piece of plastic with three holes where the water comes up through.

Next, I put the white piece back in, put the cartridge back in (lining up the grooves so it slides in), but now the catridge isn’t sitting low enough to screw the black plastic nut on.

This is an easy replacement so I can’t comprehend what I did wrong so that the nut won’t screw back on. It’s like the cartridge isn’t seated low enough to allow the thread from the nut to get into the threading in the shaft around the cartridge.

Would really appreciate any suggestions for what I’m overlooking.

    thanks,
    Jim

Thanks Terry, but the cartridge only goes in if the ridges are lined up, so it’s in but should be down maybe another quarter/half inch to get the nut to engage.

Normally I’d have taken photos during disassembly, but this was pretty basic.

If I remove the white plastic thing inside the faucet, the cartridge drops in low enough to get the nut on, but obviously that will result in water going everywhere :)

I hit it with a hammer to get it seated correctly. Problem solved!
