Hi all,
looking to install an inline chlorinator to solve an iron bacteria issue that we are having.
I know there are other options but trying to keep the cost as low as possible.

Couple questions:
1. Should the iron filter be placed before or after the carbon filter?
I am not sure if the residual chlorine will hurt the iron filter or (if carbon filter first) the carbon filter will clog from the iron.

2. And most important. This seems to be the only inline chlorinator that I can find that is billed for well water:
http://www.equinox-products.com/InlineChlorinator.htm

Is there any difference between this and a model advertised for pools and spas? (example: https://www.amazon.com/Pentair-R171...F8&qid=1515439010&sr=8-2&keywords=chlorinator)

ANy other models people would recommend?

Thanks!

Instead of chlorinator, I suggest that you search for chlorine injector or injection.

Usually you don't need a separate iron filter. The chlorine causes the iron to oxidize to a solid that gets filtered out. Ideally there will be a contact tank after the chlorine to let the reaction happen with lower level of chlorine. But there is more than one way to do it. Given that you have the iron filter, I think it would go before the GAC tank.

One way is to inject at a fixed rate before the pressure tank whenever the pump runs. A more sophisticated way is to inject an amount proportional to the water being drawn.

So do some more searching. There is a lot to be found.

Thanks for the reply.

I looked into injectors but am a little put off by the cost and reports of frequent issues. The 'low-tech' design of dry pellet inline chlorinators seems more foolproof.
So far I have only been able to find 2 models that are specifically sold for well water use, are these functionally any different from well reviewed inline chlorinators designed for pools?

Well models:

Hey BSC,

I know this post is old, but any luck with your chlorinator setup? Did you end up trying the Pentair?

Thanks
