I never needed to register as I always found the answer already here, but here I am.

I have a dripping, from the shower head, Scald-Guard shower faucet that has a "hot button" and a shower head volume control:

We bought the home in 2007 and not sure when the shower was installed prior, so pretty darn good.

I thought I had bought the right cartridge replacement (RP1991), but on the back it does state "except Scald-Guard with red hotstop button" and I cannot seem to google up the cart that takes in account the hot stop button.

I hope somebody can help me with either the correct cartridge part or just minor replacements of springs and things? Fingers crossed that the best answer is NOT the complete replacement of the valve.

thank you
Jim

I am just curious-- what does the red button do?

thank you! Sorry it's taken me this long to get back to this, but last Friday I was on the stairs and I twisted my ankle and broke a bone in it. Off to the orthopedic surgeons tomorrow.

In practice I use the red button to get the hot water flowing faster - which makes the scald-guard feature semi useless.

Does this sound like a proper way to go?

Get the RP4993 kit (from amazon), take the faucet apart and replace just those and see if that fixes it?

The valve might be a bit harder to scrape up:

https://www.plumbingsupply.com/delta.html -> RP-3650 redirects to RP-1991

https://griggindustries.com/products/cartridge-for-delta-rp3560-del-rp3560 looks like OEM?

https://www.afsupply.com/delta-faucets-rp3560.html says in stock, but no pic.

I think the most important thing is which of those companies would you all go with?

Anyways, hopefully the springs and seats will be the fix!

thanks again!

The Delta RP1991 will work fine. Hopefully the seats and springs will do the trick for you. If you need to replace the cartridge stay away from the white base. I've seen lots of problems with these. The OEM has a black base.
