    Describe Problem__________________________.....

Came home Thursday afternoon with no water
Pump motor was trying to run.
Removed pump and motor, removed pump from motor, motor ran, pump was froze up.
Purchased new pump at Lowes and installed same as old pump.
Unable to prime pump, pulled injector from well and replaced foot valve.
Pump seems to be primed...but will not build up pressure.
Installed injector that came with pump into the well.
Pump seems to be primed...but will not build up pressure.
Shut the valve between pump and pressure tank.
Removed pressure gauge and 1" reducer from tee on top of pump...turned power on to pump.
Water slowly pumped out of top of pump...then increases to about an 8-10 inch column.
Shut off pump, check pump level (full) replaced pressure gauge and turn on pump.
Pressure will not build up in pump to register on gauge or trip the pressure switch.
Remove pressure gauge and water flows from the pump.
Removed pressure gauge and pressure switch to check for dirt (clean).
Thought maybe there was air in the line I have repeated this process several times.
Pump motor will only run for about a minute before it trips an internal overload and shuts down.

I think the pressure tank is bad as well...but I wanted to get the pump primed and running before I tried repairing or replacing it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Pump motor should run for more than a minute, water or no water. Was the old pump wired for 120V or 240V? Are you sure you wired up the new pump correctly?

First, you have an electrical problem! The pump overload should not shut off the pump. Check the wiring hookup for the motor to the source, be sure the motor's wired for the proper voltage. Next, when installing the new pump debris may have become lodged in the nozzle of the jet assembly in the well. You may have to remove the jet assembly and disassemble the venturi and then the nozzle assembly. . . clean the debris from the 1/4" hole in the nozzle and then replace everything being sure that nothing plugs the nozzle. Lastly, sometimes when installing a new check valve the nipple keeps the check valve from opening enough to allow water to enter.

    Thanks for the replys...
I have seen no obvious leaks in the drop pipes.
The wiring, is what was used with the old pump...there is a switch on the new pump to select either 115 or 230 volts. I switched it to 115 as that is what the old pump was wired to.
One of the steps was to replace the old foot valve and also installed the injector nozzle that came with the new pump.
I thought I could just drop in a pump and, shoulda just paid the professionals.
