Clarification on Generator and Transfer switch

    Before i take the plunge and spend $5000 on Honda EU7000IS which i planned. i want to understand exactly what it can run on my manual Generac transfer switch

    The honda has a 30A output 110/220v So the transfer switch will have 110 on A side and B side.

    Since the generator is only putting out 30A... i think the manual says max 22.9a. running. Does that mean the RED and BLACK side has to be under combined draw of 22.9a? or does that mean I can run say 20A on the A side and 20a on the B side and be fine?

    Only reason i bought this is becuase I need a life system for my Salt water Reef tank that has thousands of dollars of coral in it and if we lose power for a few hours id be in trouble. the Reef has important computers and auto testers so I want an inverter and quiet is important as im in CA.. we dont have land , I'm trying to be respectful to my neighbors since the gen will be 6ft from their house basically. So spending the extra money on the honda is ok. Also while im at it, it would be nice to hook up other circuits for my LED can lights and such to give more power to my house. We dont plan on using any AC or heater or stove (gas). no laundry. Basically 110 circuits.. Id love to put the fridge on it.. living room lights, bedroom lights, and my office which has the tank. and that will be the largest draw. i'd guess its roughly 8-10A during day with all the lighting and pumps on at same time. at night it would drop 6a because all the lights would be off.

    So basically for Honda eu7000, do i get 20a on red side and 20a on black. or are they suppose to be combined 22a? so split 10a and 10a?

    Each leg. From the specs:
    AC Output 120/240V 7000W max. (58.3/29.1A) 5500W rated (45.8/22.9A)


    7000 watts max / 240 volts = 29 amps. 7000 watts / 120 volts = 58 amps /2 = 29 amps per leg.
    5500 watts / 240 volts = 22.9 amps. 5500 watts / 120 volts = 45.8 amps /2 = 22.9 amps per leg.

    Hey, thanks so much. This should be plenty for my house then. My circuit with office I just tested amperage on a meter I ordered. Clamped to hot at breaker and it's 6-8a max and everything is on lights and all. So I should be able to get any 8 circuits I want. I tested living room and it's only 1a. Just gonna leave off all appliances except fridge. As long as we have lights and a tv
