Can't find a good answer in the AIM manual. While testing a 30 year old pump motor in the well, the Yellow and black motor leads read 9.3 amps draw. The red lead is drawing 1.3 amps. Capacitor run type box. Is that a safe value and what are the limits of amp draw to consider preventative maintenance?

SFA for a 1HP is 9.8 amps. Capacitor run probably makes it 9.3 amps. As long as it doesn't draw over 9.8 you are good. Low amps at full flow are a better indication of a worn pump than high amps.

There really isn't any preventive maintenance you can do except to limit the cycling. On for a minute and off for five isn't bad if it only happens a few times. But running 24/7 that could be 240 cycles a day, which is excessive. :)
