What To Do With Well Pump Safety Rope In Conduit

Hello: I want to install conduit between the well cap and the electrical box (please see picture). What is the correct method for routing the pump safety rope? Should it be threaded into the electrical box and then out again? Also, can I use a reducer fitting to reduce the diameter of the conduit? The well cap conduit fitting is 1 1/4 inches and I would like to enter the electrical box with something smaller. Thank you.

Ropes are always in the way. I talked to a guy yesterday who's "safety rope" broke and fell in the well. After two days of fishing he finally got the rope out of the way and was able to fish the pipe out fairly easily. Just took forever to get the rope out.

Since is it already in there I would tie the rope to the pitless adapter and not bring it out the top. Then yes you can reduce the fitting for the conduit size.

The proper fitting you want is called a 1 1/4” x 1” reducing bushing. This is an electrical bushing, not a plumbing bushing
