Hi
I have the attached line in the basement going to the ground, wondering what is the purpose of such installation ?
It is leaking at the connection . what would be the best way to stop/repair the leak ?
In advance thank you very much for your time.

Sorry , admin please remove my other post in the wrong forum.

My best guess is it's a bad way of providing water to keep a floor drain trap from drying out. But this will allow solids to enter the line so it is probably clogged up. If there is a floor drain, run a fixture to this ABS pipe and look if the water in the floor drain ripples at all. At the three inch section, is the bottom one a tee that disappears into the wall? What is the pipe to the upper level for? Was this part of a washing machine drain. The pictures are blurred and can't tell what that stub out is.

Speculation:

It may be being used as a conduit for a ground wire for lightning protection of some sort. The former owner may have run coaxial cable up that, Usually a lightning ground is outside.

Now that would not explain that other branch with that red tag. So maybe a plumbing drain line was re-purposed.

Consider asking the former owner.
