Well Pressure - Pipe Noise

I have searched the forums but cannot seem to locate what my issue is. I am a novice when it comes to well systems as I am more familiar with city supplied water.

I have a well approximately 20 feet from my house that feeds into a galvanized tank, I assume this is the pressure tank, from there the water flows to the cold water inlet on the water heater in my attic. and then through the house which includes 5 sinks, 2 toilets, 2 tub/showers, washer and dishwasher.

Problem: occasionally during the day the toilets will run and the faucets sound like air/pressure is exiting and the pipes in the wall bang. This occurs more in the night time hours when no water is in use. Upon turning on the faucets or showers the next day the water pulsates and it sounds like air is exiting from the shower head/faucet.

Where do I begin to look to rectify this problem?

Thanks in advance.
Hey, wait a minute.

This is awkward, but...
