Threaded tub spout plastic insert

Hey guys/gals, sorry I'm having a hard time finding an answer. For threaded tubspout that mounts to a 1/2" pipe! Do you put tethlon tape between the brass pipe and the plastic insert? And also on the outside of the insert between the tub spout? Thanks!

pipe threads need sealant of one type or another...generally doesn't matter whether tape or dope/sealant made for threaded joints (though you must use plastic compatible thread compound)
