Stub out too short...

Finishing off a bathroom remodel and realized the stub out for the toilet supply line is too short. With the escutcheon in place, there's not enough pipe to install the stop valve. If I remove the escutcheon I can install the stop valve, but there is not enough room left to use even a retrofit escutcheon. Just wondering what the best practice would be here. Forget the escutcheon? Somehow lengthen the pipe? Would appreciate your recommendations.

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion Sylvan. I tried the split escutcheon but it was a little too thick. Maybe I'll try to file it down a bit.

The plastic type is easier to file down compared to the metal .

Lacking a belt sander, I am thinking of Jcats sliding that escutcheon over 100 to 220 grit sand paper that is sitting on a table.
9 in. x 11 in. 100, 150, 220 Grit Medium, Fine and Very Fine Aluminum Oxide Sand Paper is available as an assortment.

I've tried sanding those down, and the results are varied. The plating on them can peel loose, exposing the underlying plastic, and then it looks crappy. Sometimes, it works, sometimes it doesn't. You've got enough to solder on a coupler, but that would then leave a bunch of pipe exposed.

This might stick out further than you want. I don't know if you can cut it some to length. https://www.brasscraft.com/product/12-in-nom-sweat-x-38-in-o-d-comp-with-bell-escutcheon-3/
