I recently purchased a house with an old tub. I believe it to be ~1925/1926. The fill valves actually work fine, although they need to be shut very tightly to prevent drips. The drain does not work properly. The tub doesn't hold any water when using the tube in the middle. I'm trying to find some more info about this.
1) Are there any repair kits for these valves or would they have to be rebuilt by someone?
2) Any idea what brand this might be? Or where I might look for some more info? The valves are stamped "Re-Nu".

Here are some pictures.

Your valve is American Standard. "Re-Nu" is their way of saying the valves have renewable valve seats. Most of the time the seat is a barrel that would screw on the valve stem. If the faucet is difficult to turn off the washers will need to be replaced sooner than later. Too much force will break the handles.
The photo below shows a simular standing waste. There is an inner tube connected to the center knob. The inner tube should have a beveled end that can be properly adjusted for stopping the drain for bathing. First thing to do is lift the knob until it stops and rotate to remove and check for missing parts or cracks in the tube.

Thanks for the info. The inner tube is definitely cracked. However, it looks like water never makes it into that area. It seems completely dry and remains dry even if I run the tub. I wonder if it's bypassed somehow?

It's hard to tell, but this is a picture looking down the larger tube.

Is the beveled adjustable part at the bottom of the tube still attached? The crack can be dealt with but you need all the pieces.

I lost count on how many I repaired and still have working in many of the homes I service

A standing waste also known as a Barrell waste which is still available in NY supply houses

It is legal to service them but not install them because of back flow concerns as the location of the tub spout is below the over flow

@Sylvan do you do any work in Rockland County? I'm in Orangetown and need some help with a misbehaving cold water fill valve on a standing waste fixture that I think is identical to the one pictured in this thread.

I've tried new bibb washers but I can't seem to get a good seal - and now the inner threads are almost gone on the valve stem where the brass machine screw sits and retains the bibb washers.

The valve stem itself is also a little bent out of true round but I don't know if that would cause my problem. Anyway, please let me know if you have any ideas or how to get in touch if you do work around here - if not a referral would be appreciated - thank you!

I only work in NYC, except Staten Island, and I no longer do any service calls. Sorry.

When you order a new stem, you may want to consider checking the seat inside the faucet for a possible replacement

Please take a picture and send it to the following supply houses.
I had great experiences with both, as I used to repair faucets, over 90 years old.
