Sprinkler pump keeps tripping when I turn it on.

hi, most likely this question has been asked before...our lawn sprinkler system isn't working and lawn is starting to brown. I found the fuse box and saw that the system's switch had been tripped, so I reset it and tried to turn the system on in both manual and auto modes. Each time the pump made a loud, angry coughing sound and then the breaker tripped again.
Any suggs before I call someone out?

Probably a bad start capacitor or a bad centrifugal switch or both.
