Hi from DIY frustrationland. Glad this forum showed up in a search...looks like you've seen it all!
In our little-used tub/shower, hot was fine, cold was very low flow. After replacing the balancing spool and cartridge, and checking the stop check valve, I took a pic today down the barrel of the Moen single-handle faucet, c. 1987:
Something dark like a washer or o-ring seems to be blocking the cold-side port from the balancing spool. I could feel it with a bent wire but couldn't get it out. And 70 psi from our well pump wouldn't budge it, just dribble around it.
What do you think might work?
