Just had both (9 year old fleck 2510s rebuilt (piston, seals spacers). One greensand/potperm and the other resin/salt.
Greensand was rebedded
Float in potperm tank was replaced
They did not replace or clean potperm felt
After the service I called pro products to ask about ban-t because tech said greensand/potperm does not take care of tannin. Pro products said greensand/potperm takes care of tannins.
Tech used 1 gallon of Rescare. Pro Products said that was way too much and was not sure how many gens would be needed to deal with excessive amount.
My questions:
1. Should they have cleaned or replaced potperm felt?
2. There is 4 inches of water in potperm tank. I thought it should be less.
3. They used 1.25 cf or greensand and not 1.5 (10X54) and asked me if I wanted the remaining .25. Is it standard not to use all 1.5 when using gravel?
4. How many gens should I run to address excessive Rescare?
5. Does greensand/potperm address tannins?
6. In hindsight, should I have bought an AIO system (birm, carbon, etc???)
Thanks in advance for your help.
