Hello, have a small sink in a half-bath on my first floor -- no hot water, only cold. I am trying to replace the cartridge, and this is what it looks like when I take it apart -- at this point, I'm uncertain and can't find a YouTube video that looks like mine. Do I need a tool that fits inside the inner teeth of that white plastic thing? How do I proceed? I have replaced one faucet ever and essential ignorant; grateful for help. Thank you!

The outside part has threads, and when I squeeze it with a wrench, it damages the threads -- so that didn't seem right to me. Is that what you meant?
