Hi all!

Here's the predicament:
-Acrylic shower base threshold width is 2.5 inches.
-The frameless door installation requires 3" (Nowhere did they specify this when we purchased. Installation manual was not available until we opened the box... and we waited beyond the available return period before opening the box (Yes... I am being defensive about this....))

Looking at the installation manual, the piece which actually requires the 3" width is the guide block (see attached pics below).

MY QUESTION: Given the unfortunate placement of the guide block fastening holes, beyond the available threshold, can I instead glue the block onto the threshold using a quality adhesive suitable for adhering acrylic to metal?

Can anyone suggest an adhesive they found works for such an application?

Reasoning:
- The static glass will be supported properly on the threshold and horizontal bar. (see final installation pic below) No worries there.
- The shower glass sliding door weight is supported by the horizontal bar. The guide block does not support the sliding door so I believe it can be installed without the presence of a threshold beneath the door runner.

What say you?

Just getting my Demeter, Allen and Roth bypass frameless out of the box to find the same problem. This was a pan put in by bathfitters for my parents and the threshold is too narrow for the bottom fixture which looks like yours. I am thinking to get some 1X4 pvc trim board and applying it with adhesive and 4 inch stainlees steel screws on the top of the threshhold to form a ledge. It would need to be siliconed on the inside and outside to ensure that water does not get trapped and cause mold. This is the material used for trim around the window in the shower. It's been there for five years with no deterioration.
Have you gotten any other replies?
