Hopefully I am asking this question in the right place. I currently have a 10" sediment filter on my system. I started off using the 10" wound filters from Home Depot, that would usually last me about a month

I bought some 20 micron polypropylene filters online just because I could buy them in bulk, Prime is great if you hate going to the store and getting to the local HD is a PITA. These poly filters kill my water pressure in a day, they are junk for me anyway, lesson learned.

My system goes pressure tank, sediment filter, air injection carbon tank, softener, uv light. I ran 3/4 PEX the length of the house (52') and tapped into the 3/4 for faucets, toilets etc

Would I be better off switching to a larger filter like a 4x20? I'm wondering if the larger filter would last longer and not restrict my water and be as cost effective as possible.

Thank you in advance.

4.5 x 20 will last twice as long or better than a 4.5 x 10. But do you really want a cartridge filter there?

Tell us about that air injection carbon tank. If you could have something like 100 micron filtering first, the carbon tank could do some filtering too. What does your filter catch now. Sand, clay, what?

There are filters with screens that are pretty self-cleaning by turning a knob.

This filter has been in about 24 hours. It's just a light brown. These things aren't the best for pressure that's for sure. That's my current filter housing and my air injection tank. Air injection flushes every 2 days.
